Hi all,
today was my first day at work…Well, it’s no new company to me. As some of you know, I’ve been opening my doors at Maersk Mauritius Ltd ever since May 2007. May-July 2007 and December-January 2007 was mainly spent in the Sales Department to assist the Data Quality Controller,KJA023 in updating and synchronising customer details and preferences in the different systems used by the department. Those days will always be anchored in my heart and soul for the special moments, experiences and adventures I had there including the Team Building Activity 2007 at Riverland, Tamarin (a real wonderful place) and the End-Of-Year Party 2007 at Domaine Belle Etoile, Montagne Blanche. I must say, I really enjoyed my team mates, they have been wonderful coaches as well. Hats Off To Them.
What was funny being with them was that it is a team consisting only of male co-workers and there were only 3 girls in the team (including me and Cookies) and that those men found it a really hard time to swallow their foul words and not spit that in front of us!!! It was real fun when those words were about to come out their mouths and they had to stop them their only and digest!
As for today and for the remaining one month, I have changed department. I have joined the administrative department as Receptionist/Admin Assistant. Major tasks include receiving calls, doing international calls for co-workers, controlling stationery required by staffs, receiving courrier, assisting the secretary and the HR department, calling and scheduling IQ tests for potential candidates and finally booking the boardrooms for meetings.
Let’s hope that I’ll be more at ease with the work tomorrow.
Skipping work life!
I find something weird on my parents part, when it comes to outings, events or late night parties hosted by the company, I have the permission to attend(I even reached home at 3.00 am) but when it comes to those at university or among friends, there so much question/answers that go on and MAYBE finally a big NO!!! That’s so unfair. Can anyone explain me the theory or psychology behind this action/reaction?
Anyways, I just hope they’ll be able to explain me one day about this way of thinking.
Hoping to know about your opinions through your comments.
Cheers!
Chaya

Congratulations on your job…enjoy it and get the maximum out of it.
As regards not being allowed to go to parties at UoM..i tend to believe that your parents are right.
Its not that they do not trust you…probably they have issues with some UoM student’s ability to behave properly.
Whereas at work they have the guarantee that you are among responsible people.
I guarantee they “probably they have issues with some UoM student’s ability to behave properly.” Surtout avek tou ce ki ce passe ces derniers temps dan “notre petite ile paradisiaque”, comme vous le dites souvent, lol
Cheers
