Long Time, No Post

Hi all,

long time, no post!

Me Voici de retour. I was in fact away from home for some 11 days and when I came back, had some outings and thus have not been able to keep up much with my blog.

I got a few things to share with you all.

I was in fact taken up by an 11 days grand prayer which was held for my niece to clear some of the hurdles in her life which might affect her health in the future. I actually do not know the name of the prayer–for me, I named it as “Kaal Sarp Yog Shantih Puja”. For a successful prayer, we were supposed to chant the Maha Mrityunjaye Mantra 125 000 times, which meant 1152 malas + 44, over 10 days. Of course, there are the Puja Vidhis that should be done before starting the chanting. During those 10 days, prayers were held at night as from 8.00pm till 10.00pm. Honestly, all those who participated,(be it for one day or two days, or the 11 days) must have experienced some “satisfaction” I would say.

Personally, I sat for the prayers for the 11 days. I used to go to work and then back to Quatre Bornes at my phuphu’s place. In the beginning, we used to think that the 125 000 chanting will not be over, but in the end it happened. The Pandit Ji would bring 4 people with him, and we were to provide 5 persons on our side. We would start the chanting together, and after 21 mantras, each and everyone would do the chanting on his/her own and count the number of malas he/she has been able to complete till 10.00pm. In the end, each and everyone’s conrtibution will be counted.

Some days, due to a tiring day at work or due to my klling back, I used to find it difficult to concentrate but then, I convinced myself that it’s for my niece and that I should do it. And in the end I was successful.

10th day was my 20th birthday and 11th day Baby Shreya’s 2nd Bithday.

On the 11th day, the prayer was terminated by a Maha Yagya, which took place outside. After the normal Puja Vidhis, and before the Yagya would start, the Kalash (which stood for Maha Mrityunjaye–Lord Shiva), Naag Devta, Mother Earth, Ganesh Devta, Shiv-Parvatee and Lord SHiva’s pic had to be brought outside to the puja place. At that moment, I felt a strange force in me and I started crying. It might be that the Gods were truly invoked at that place and that I could feel their presence.

Prayers started around 2.00pm and ended around 6.30pm. After prayers, dinner was served. So those who participated in prayers were supposed to serve food to the invitees and after they’ve had their food, we should collect their banana leaves, and so I did with much pleasure. Then around 7.30, there was a 1 hour Kirtan, and I was happy to participate and sing as well. At the end, before the Shantih Paath, the uncles/aunties would sing happy birthday for me and my niece accompanied with showers of flowers as blessings. I cried out of happiness that moment.

After Kirtan, there was a small birthday ceremony with two birthday cakes. Unforgettable moment of my life, surrounded by my closed ones, my cherished colleagues at work, that moment was simply great.

After 11 days of prayers, I finally got back home on the 12 July. Had to recover from the fatigue, but that wasn’t necessary. Moreover, work was over and it’s time to party. Had a lunch planned on Saturday 19th with Tasneem & Bilaal, unfortunately Ritesh could not come and Shabneez joined us afterwards. I had a wonderful time there.

That weekend, my Didi came with her little French Kids at her mum place and as usual I couldn’t resist meeting them and so as I am free, I rushed at their place. Her elder son is Kiran, something funny with him is that when he talks fluently he would say “Redarde” instead of “Regarde” and when corrected he will take his time and say “Re….gaarrde”, of course with a french accent. The younger one is 9 months old, and he walks on all fours cutely. His name is Pravish and he’s a lovely boy. He’s funny when he stars saying/shouting “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH” and would continue like this.

Next, Shabneez, Tasneem and Ritesh planned my birthday on Tuesday 22nd and we met again at Caudan. And this time lunch was in FoodCourt and not at Pizza Hut. We faced some difficulty since I was not eating non-veg dishes. It was time to cut the cake, and Shabneez was the only to sing Happy Birthday, hihi…

Last but not the least, I passed in all modules for 2nd semester exams.

That’s all for now.

Gotta go at baby Paree’s place.

Till the next post,

Bye Bye

Cheers

Chaya
