Welcome back to my blog.

Let me start the first post of the year by the following quotes:

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any one thing.

– Abraham Lincoln

Human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.

– William James

It’s not that some people have will power and some don’t.  It’s that some people are ready to change and others are not.

– James Gordon, M.D.

Almost every person must have made some resolutions for this new year ahead.  But I made none, though I do have some dreams to realise and some aims to achieve.  The year has changed, but why should I change? :P

Let’s come to some serious issues now.  2009 has come, and what are my serious expectations?

  • More sensitisation campaigns of the public concerning careful driving and road security.  And why not a better way to fight traffic congestion in Port Louis.  It’s high time for people to realise that there are too many vehicles–mostly cars (with only the driver, and no passengers) on the streets.  This causes traffic jams, people are stressed before reaching the office, pollutants ejected in the environment though toxic gas discharge contributing to global warming.  There are so many issues to be tackled.
  • More transparency with the use of speed cameras.  With the Equal Opportunity Act (though I am not well informed), I do expect that the same laws apply to each and every person whether it concerns a Minister, an old person, a youngster, a low-income person, an average earner…any category of people.
  • More and more public awareness on health issues faced by Mauritians: Diabetes, Obesity, CardioVascular Diseases, AIDS, Cancer (The different forms) etc.
  • Re-inforcement in the laws here.  Murder, rape, sodomy, theft cases amongst others should be tackled seriously.  And offenders should be punished in such a way that they are reformed not to commit these blunders again.  There are several parts of the different Acts in Mauritius that are not yet proclaimed.  These should be revised, discussed again in the Parliament, approved by the President and hence proclaimed.
  • I do hope that there are lesser and almost no hawkers on the streets, or pavements in Port Louis.  And that pedestrians can take advantage of the pavements instead of risking their lives by walking on the roads.
  • Much fairness when proclaiming HSC results and ‘allocation’ of laureates.

That’s all I can think of for the time being.

What are your expectations for this new year?  Maybe I have missed some issues since I did not follow the news for more than 6 months. *Embarassed Smile*

I seize this opportunity to express my warm wishes to all my friends, relatives and their families for the Year 2009.  This year might be a challenge for some, a gift for others, a blessing for yet others.  I do hope that all your dreams come true, and that The Almighty, God blesses you with happiness, success, love, health, wealth, no tears, only laughs and smiles, and many many more.  I sincerely and truly hope that this year, life will deal you all the best things that should happen to good people.  I wish you all the courage to hold on and fight till the end.  Have a prosperous year!

Cheers

P.S: By the way do not miss the editions on Explik Nu.  You are all most welcome to send an e-mail about your problems, or comment on issues discussed such that others can get an insight on how to tackle the issues they are facing.  Anonymity and confidentiality is preserved, so no worries about your identity :)

Hope to see you people, there!

  1. happy new year again chaya … realise ur dreams instead of makin resolution lol

    campaign against resolutions hihihi

  2. “More transparency with the use of speed cameras. ”

Yes! And no! Privacy has been shattered. No more sex in a speeding car. No more of speeding to get your mistress home before her husband shows up. We do not know the amount of time the pictures will be kept in archives. We do not own our data.

” The year has changed, but why should I change”

Yes! No need for Chaya to change because she is perfect and would not age unlike many other humans about to become decrepit :P

Seriously though – she is cool and there is no reason for her to go astray from her already set objectives.

    “Have a prosperous year!”

You too. Have a great year and study hard. *hug*

    P.S

“By the way do not miss the editions on Explik Nu.”

It needs work when it comes to usability. A blog! Seriously?! A board of forums would have been more appropriate.

  3. hAPPY new yeaarrrrrrrrr :D

  4. i wish the same for u dr.. i also ddnt make any resolution bcoz i think that i cant prevent wats going to happen ahead this year… Maybe i will wish only to have the strength and courage to take up studies again.. thats all. tell me something sincerely do people really stick to their resolutions wen they make them for the new year and y only for the new year. Why dnt they make it wen they did the mistakes or something wrong??? MAybe i will neva find the answer but i just wanted to share my views with u and i hope that u wnt mind it. Am sory if i hurt u in anything ive said

  5. Equal Opportunity Act–>You mean to say the act which sets the difference between the white collar and the “ti dimoune”

  6. Equal Opportunity Act–>You mean to say the act which sets the difference between the white collar and the “ti dimoune”

Nobody is equal and the act is a blatant act to promote transvestitism (women = men.)

  7. Yusha –> Anti-resolution campaigns…hahahaha :D

Shah –> “Yes! And no! Privacy has been shattered. No more sex in a speeding car. No more of speeding to get your mistress home before her husband shows up. We do not know the amount of time the pictures will be kept in archives. We do not own our data.”

How can people have sex in speeding cars? Who will be driving? Paid Driver?? lol! No privacy again :P
    It’s easy, don’t keep mistresses ;)
About ownership of data, we got to refer to Copyrights Act and Data Protection Act :P

I won’t change Shah :P I’ll remain intact, while you wacko people will get old, hihihihi :D

Daks –> Warm wishes for new year to you too :)

Aisha –> According to Wikipedia, “A New Year’s resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments normally go into effect on New Year’s Day and remain until fulfilled or abandoned.”

I do not know to what extent people achieve their goals. But I tend to believe, that more specific goals are achieved as compared to vague goals. Let’s say, I set myself an objective of increasing my CPA, it’s vague! An increase could be by 0.01% or 10%, it depends on how much hard work I’ll input. And if I would set the objective, that my CPA should be around or above 60% (for example), then i’ll know approximately, how much work is to be input. And so it’ll be easier for me to achieve it.

And yeah, Aisha, you are most welcome to share your views on any of the posts here. Views may clash, but it doesn’t matter and you wouldn’t hurt me. :)

Tushal & Shah –> I did mention that I do not have much information on Equal Opportunity Act :P

The gap between the poor and the rich people will always increase.

And there will never be a day when women = men :) It’s already defined by nature :P

    women <> men
    women != men

Anymore syntax to show that women is not equal to men?

    Bon Dimanche :)

    Cheers

    Chaya

  9. Resolution? I dont have any except that i will have to buy a diary this year. I tend to forget too much and I need to better organise my work :-)

Btw an alien talked about having sex in car above? :P Sex in a speeding trimaran is better :P – No no I have not tried it yet! But I intend to….wlol with my wife ofcourse. :P

  10. trimaran..hmm..that’s possible. We should charter a boat and have a party (not an orgie) some time. It’s all on me, BTW. I’ll e-mail you later this year.

BTW, the sex in the car thing – my mind got corrupt after watching Crank (movie) the other day.

    And Mandy (Chaya)? What’s up?

  11. “i will have to buy a diary this year. I ”

OMG. What is your phone for? Hey, you use Gmail. Why not use a calendar which you can sync. to your PC and other devices. Come on! A paper diary!!! Tree Murderer! :P
